California FFA chapter starts GoFundMe for VP with leukemia

Published:

Over the July 4th holiday, a California FFA chapter learned some sad news about their Vice President. After competing in the market show with his prized steer and taking 2nd in his class, Enrique Estrella felt ill. The following morning he went to the doctor where he was diagnosed with Leukemia.

Since the news, the Vista FFA chapter has rallied behind their officer, starting a GoFundMe with the hopes to raise $50,000 for the family. So far, almost $5,000 has been donated to the cause.

This fall Estrella will be starting his senior year at Vista High School, where he is an active member of the officer, public speaking, and livestock show teams.

In Vista FFA’s GoFundMe story, the Oceanside, California chapter says people who know Estrella will tell you that “he is one of the most fun-loving, funny, goofy, polite, caring, and tough kids that they know.”

“Enrique will fight. He will fight and he will beat this. His family is equally as strong. They are some of the best people you will ever meet. Enrique is blessed with amazing parents and family who, along with his FFA extended family, will help him get through this awful disease. They are going to dive into this fight head-first, and they will beat it together.”
