I'd like to take the time to recognize and thank my mother for all the long years and countless hours of dedication to children in our community. Your dedication has made an impact on so many lives. My mother celebrated her 41st year as the leader of the Fairview 4-H club this year. Mom has helped hundreds of 4-H members over the years. This year, her club has twelve members, including her three oldest grandchildren. Here is a little history on our 4-H club. In Tillamook County, there were 6 original 4-H clubs. They were chartered under the Granges circa 1916. (It was sometime between 1910 and 1916 for each.) Pleasant Valley Grange, White Clover Grange, Fairview Grange, Sandlake Grange and two others. My Great Grandfather Alfred was the first Josi to take on the role of leader of the Fairview 4-H Club a few years after it was chartered. Grandpa Ernie led the dairy portion after his father retired and when Ernie retired my mom and dad took over. Mom is the longest tenured leader of Fairview 4-H. Fairview is the only club of the original six 4-H clubs in Tillamook County, that has maintained a constant membership since 4-H came to the area.
