Longhorns are so beautiful! On one of my many trips to the combine with lunch-I noticed this herd as I turned down the dirt road. Such an awesome animal! I later found out that this herd contains animals from a dear friend’s herd….he had passed many years ago. I am so glad I stopped and enjoyed the moment. It’s an UDDERLY beautiful day! ☀️ . One of the most important traits of a cow is udder quality. Good udders and teats affect longevity of a cow by reducing injury or mastitis; calf performance; and amount of lack thereof labor required in assistance with newborn calves. . Also, according to the American Hereford Association, udder and teat characteristics appear to be heritable. . We keep cows with good udders for the end goal of creating heifers to become outstanding cows for our customers. Happy Tuesday!
