Happy Farm Fact Friday ๐Ÿคฉ Since spring is, hopefully, right around the corner I thought Iโ€™d share some farm lingo! โ € โ € ๐ŸฎA heifer is a female cow that has yet to have a calf. Once they had a calf, theyโ€™ll be referred to as a cowโ € ๐Ÿ‘ A ewe is a female sheepโ € ๐Ÿ A doe is a female goat and their babies are called kids (my personal favorite) โ € ๐Ÿท A sow is a female pig and their babies are piglets โ € ๐Ÿด A mare is a female horse and their babies are foals. A female foal is called a filly while a male foal is a coltโ € โ € Swipe to see the cutest calf โžก๏ธ ๐Ÿ“ธ by @aubreebeenken Her and her siblings are 4th generation on their Gelbvieh influenced cow/calf operation in Northern Tama County, Iowa. We wish them and all producers a successful calving season! โ€ข โ€ข โ€ข #farmfactfriday #podengogiraffe #dontstoplovinpc #pawpartyslove2020 #Ocean1Orange1 #frogpawtyred #photooftheday #instapup #doglife #mansbestfriend #eyes #cute #puppylife #instapet #puppylove #love #nature #instapic #lifeisgood #aussiesdoingthings #instagood #instadaily #farm #cattle #spring #agriculture #calvingseason #miniaussie #aussie

I really like the traditional look and design of this old barn. The beautiful stone foundation and cement silo tells me this barn goes back quite a few decades. The earthen ramp with stone reinforcements on the side is very typical of Wisconsin dairy barns. Backing a tractor and wagon into the hay mow to unload the hay bales is another story; a skill l never mastered. *smile* Still in great condition and cared for despite the ominous silence swirling about it. No signs of livestock the day of my visit. : : : #ag365 #agdaily #farmsnaps #discoverwisconson #barns #be_one_rural #barnsofinstagram #countryroads #midwestliving #midwestmoment #wisconsinbarns #renegade_rural #wisconsinrural #ig_america_rural #ig_ruralamerica #ig_countryside #hdr_country #rurallife #roamwisconsin #ruralwisconsin #rural_love #ipulledoverforthis #raw_country #ig_rural #total_rural #farm365 #barnlove #barnobsessed #explore_countryside #farmphotography
