???? ?? ?????⠀ ⠀ I figured I’d tell you the story of our beef cattle and how they may end up on your plate ?⠀ ⠀ Dad buys local calves that are around 6 months in the fall. They get turned out on cornstalks for, hopefully, a few months or until it snows. This is called “backgrounding”. ⠀ ⠀ From there, they are brought into our hoop building seen in the picture. They are feed a total mixed ration that is formulated by a nutritionist. This is called “finishing”. They’ll stay here until market weight which is around ~1300 pounds. We start sending loads of market weight cattle in July and have them all gone by October in time to start over again! ⠀ ⠀ We sell to a buyer that buys for packing plants. Our cattle normally end up in Nebraska and Illinois to be processed. After this they may end up on your plate ? ⠀ ⠀ We also sell 1/4, 1/2 or whole steers directly to consumers. The butchers are crazy packed around us due to covid-19! We weren’t able to get in until 4 months later than normal at a butcher 50 miles away. We already booked our appointment for next year at our normal butcher? Our family is running pretty low on homegrown beef! ⠀ ⠀ We are proud to produce high quality, Tama County beef! Ask any questions below. ⠀ ⠀ Check out my story for some pictures of this process! ⠀ •⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀ ⠀ #aussie #aussiedoggos #aussielife #aussielove #aussielovers #aussienation #aussies #aussiesdoingthings #aussiesofinstagram #australianshepherd #australianshepherdlovers #australianshepherdsofinstagram #farmdog #farmlife #giveaussielove #iowalife #miniaussie #miniaussielove #miniaussiesofig #miniaussiesofinstagram #redtriaussie #eatbeef #cattlefarm #farmfactfriday #australianshepherds #australianshepherdsofig #24ferret2fbk #greyhoundarmadillo #wiggleauss20 #beefitswhatsfordinner

Have faith bigger than your fears. ? . . We all face challenges. Some big and some small. Does it really matter what size they are? In the end, we learn and grow with every obstacle that’s thrown our way. Farming is the same. Each season brings new challenges, so we adapt. We do things differently. We work a little harder. . But we don’t quit. . We learn from our mistakes and change the way we do things. We endure droughts, and plant seeds next season anyway. We have breakdowns, flat tires, and broken fences. We fix them. We lean on each other, and we help our neighbors. We know that Goliath was big, but David’s faith was bigger. So we pray hard, and have faith that our God will provide. . . #texasfarm #texasfarmsandranches #texasyoungfarmers #farm365 #farmon #farm #farmlife? #farmlifebestlife #feedingamerica #agriculturelife #ruralamerica #agvocate #futurefarmer #texasfarmbureau #beefitswhatsfordinner #littlefarmer
