Our pigs are much more than an income, a number, a nameless face. We know them in ways that come only by spending long hours interacting, observing and "listening". Juneberry is both gregarious and curious, she's the first to rush into things. She is also our "needy greedy" -no matter how much petting and scratching she gets it never seems to be enough for her. You can see Morning Glory sneaking up behind , she's a prankster. She likes to "goose" you from behind and then tears off in a silly barking run, she's also likely to untie shoes, tug on pants and tell you all about it as she is very vocal. Rosie, who is just out of frame is sensitive. She is very timid and non confrontational and quickly becomes stressed. She will go without eating rather than shoulder her way into the fray. Knowing our pigs this intimately allows us to better care for them, adjusting our management based on their individual needs. We can put Rosie in a pasture with the younger, smaller, happy go lucky girls. In doing so Rosie is able to "come into her own" and lead and thrive rather than shrink away and suffer the effects of daily stress. To us the overall health and welfare of the pigs is paramount. No dollars or bottom lines come before the happiness of the pigs. Happy pigs mean happy us! #doright #humanefarming #loveyourstock #ethicalfarming #morethanstock #realpigfarming #agdaily #farm365 #livestock #pasturepig #porkraisedright #localfarm #idaho #Sandpoint #blessed #farmlife
