It may be the weekend for most but we still have another full day left in our busy week. So far we have been combining tall fescue, leafing grapes ?, flailing, making deliveries (both seed and fruit spread), and of course moving irrigation pipe. Needless to say it’s a busy time of year for us, but really it almost always is. Spring planting can run anywhere from February till June, harvest can run from June till October, fall planting can run from September till November, and to keep up we are always shifting gears doing a little of everything. As soon as a field is harvested we flail it to manage the straw. Then we start prepping it for replanting or for it to produce next years crop. This may make for long days and weeks and little time for sleep but I love our soil, our farm, and this lifestyle.

Today is the Clover Kids bottle calf show. Instead of being in the show ring, the Little Farmer is curled up watching John Wayne movies and Looney Tunes while Black Betty is in her pen. He woke up with a bad stomachache. This weekend's project was putting up 2 of the 4 new bins. We took 4 days, but its amazing how much faster we put together bin 2, after everyone figured out their jobs and we learned some tricks to make it go more smoothly. We have calloused fingers, sunburnt faces, sore muscles, and a strong sense of accomplishment.
