It has been one of those weeks. Nothing seemed to work. The baler broke three different times and the guys spent the better part of a full day fixing it. Pivots got stuck, three pivots had random things break, a safety switch went out, we watered the road, and Levi has been putting in 18 hour days in 95+ degree heat almost every day. Levi is the most positive person I know and he was trying so hard to smile through his frustration here. Weeks like this take grit and are a part of farming I didn’t fully grasp until I married Levi. They’re long and exhausting, but we love this life and wouldn’t change a thing. Corn is reaching peak usage this week and will require .30” of water every single day. We’ve been gearing up for another very long week of irrigating and maintenance. Levi went to bed exhausted last night and ready to take today off to reset for a long week ahead. We woke up to 2” of rain this morning on every single one of our fields. A timely rain that will make a huge yield difference when harvest rolls around, especially on the dry land acres.
