Well it’s farm kid Friday and our oldest, Sam, had a busy day trying to keep up with me and his papa. We spent a fair amount of the day working in the grapes and finished up moving irrigation pipe (normally this would be a one person job but our pipe is old, bent, and the latches don’t work to well any more). So me and dad have been working together moving it rather than fighting it and tonight we had extra help. He hung right with us the entire time and even kept pace with us. Before long he will be setting the pace for us all on the farm and taking on more work.

Compare these two pics: first, with the bearded mountain man we call Cache..and second, with the much less appealing shot of my legs and a cooler bag. My mom has set the bar really high for hay crew lunches. Cache is being fed roast, rice, biscuits with honey, salad and ice cold lemonade. It's an absolute treat to crawl out of the hot and dusty tractor and sit in the pickup for a meal. I took Clint supper yesterday, and he got pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, macaroni salad, grapefruit, and iced coffee. His meal was a little more difficult to eat in the tractor than the pickup cab, but we only spilled a few bits.
