Have you noticed I got some new friends? ? We have 2 Holstein bottle calves that mom is raising! Their names are Johnnie & Walker ? Check out my story for more pictures and videos! ⠀ ⠀ ??? ??? ???? ?????? ???????⠀ Bull calves (male), don’t have a lot of value on a dairy farm. The dairy industry combats this by using sexed semen. Yep, we have technology that can sort XX vs XY sperm. This isn’t always 100% nor always used. These bull calves are then sold to farmers like us to raise and produce for meat. ⠀ ⠀ ??? ?? ??? ????? ?????⠀ A lot of work and love. Seriously though, I feed them a bottle 3 times a day at the exact same time. They’ll be feed bottles for at least 8 weeks! Then they’ll be transitioned to hay and grain. They receive a lot of cuddles and scratches! ⠀ ⠀ ???? ????????? ?? ??? ?????⠀ • ⠀ • ⠀ • ⠀ ⠀#australianshepherd #aussiesofiowa #farmfactfriday #farmer #farmher #farmherfriday #farmlife #farmdog #aussienation #giveaussielove #workingaussie #bottlecalf #dairycows #beef #miniaussiesofinstagram #miniaussie #aussielove #redtriaussie #australianshepherdsofinstagram #miniaussies #miniaussielove #doglovers #happydog #iowalife #iowafarm #aussiesdoingthings #calves #pups20quarantined #frog24toad #akitagiraffe

Today was not a stellar day in the ongoing saga of ‘Rachel’s Motherhood Journey.’ ?. . I grew impatient when they all 3 fought their naps. For two solid hours. Alternately waking each other whenever drowsiness set in. . I reacted sharply when Justice decided that biting is fun. ? Weaning him is ridiculously tempting right now. . I currently have a messy kitchen & unfolded laundry. . Not our finest day. But it ended with cuddles, their arms around my neck, and whispers of ‘I love you’. A husband who makes me feel like a chef even if I only manage to reheat leftovers for supper. And the truth that God’s mercies are new again tomorrow. . And I don’t know about you, but I really count on those fresh mercies. ? #thankful
