spending all my tractor time thinking about sheep. it’s amazing how fast you can grow your herd if you keep all your little girls. i plan on selling lamb, sheepskin rugs, and whatever i end out making from the wool. LOTS to learn but what an amazing breed of animal. I especially love them because I’m used to massive horses and cows, and with sheep im bigger than most of them!! ?? can’t wait til the super pregnant ewe has her babies – it’ll be any day now! #montana #farmlife #ranchlife #aglife #ranching #bigskycountry #lastbestplace #rockymountains #agriculture #cattle #calvingseason #cowgirl #bestofmontanaag #cowdog #spud #spudlife #chickensofinstagram #crazychickenlady #sheep #lambs #lambsofinstagram #icelandicsheep #sheepofinstagram #cowgirlsofinstagram #workingranchmagazine #carhartt

Every April we get in and work about 500 head of momma cows and their babies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What does “work” mean when dealing with cattle? Working is when we gather all the cattle and calves and send them through the chute. Each animal will get any vaccines they need as well as de-wormed. All the bull calves are castrated and every calf that doesn’t already have a tag will get one. If the momma’s have lost their tag they will get a new one. We also put fly tags in the ears of the calves to help control the flys around their eyes and face. All of this is done with our with our local Veterinarian on sight overseeing it and advising us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #ksbeef #knowyourbeef #ranchlife #meetyourbeef #cattletales #ksbeefmonth #beefmonth #myksfarmlife #thefoodweeat #responsiblyraised #behindthebeef #beefitswhatsfordinner
