“The Lonely Red Barn” The barn sits lonely by the road, it’s very empty now I’m told; Cows are gone, the people too, too many tough years they couldn’t push through. No more bustling about with chores, nothing here but locked up doors; No more smells of alfalfa and corn, just empty stalls that make me mourn. No more cats to catch the mice, or lap warm milk which they thought nice; Red paint is faded, the shingles are worn, no doubt from years of nature’s storms. Tractors are gone and so is the plow, the fields lie fallow for long days now; The lonely red barn at the end of the road, holds no more life or hope I’m told.
