These are 2.5-week-old turkeys. The #poults are in this #broodingbarn for their first 8 weeks or so. They start divided into pens so they can be more closely monitored. Then the dividers are removed and they have access to the whole barn. The farmer told me, though, that turkeys truly form a #peckingorder, and once they have it, nobody moves too far from their designated territory. Notice they are laying down in the background–a good sign that everything is #allgood. . The feed and water lines are automated so the flow is just right for how much they need at their specific age. The height of the lines also is adjusted for optimal ergonomics. Yes, I said #babyturkeyergonomics! . If you saw my first post from this #MNturkeyfarm, I told you I didn't know much about turkeys before I scheduled this visit. I didn't realize these would all be female, and I didn't know they would all be white. Now I do, and now you do, too. . Oh, and it's time to get your #thanksgivingturkey out of the freezer.
