Farm Dog of the Year nominations extended

Published:

With nominations extended, there are just 10 days left to enter your best friend for Farm Dog of the Year! This Farm Bureau contest celebrates farm dogs and all that they do for their human companions.

The contest is supported by Purina with a panel of judges selected by the AFBF selecting the winner. One top dog will be recognized at the American Farm Bureau Federation Convention in January 2023 and have a video created in their honor. This lucky dog will win one year’s worth of Purina Pro-Plan dog food and $5,000 in prize money while regional runner-ups will receive $1,000 in prize money.

This year’s Farm Dog of the Year was Fit, a 6-year-old border collie owned by Cindy and Andrew Deak. Cindy told AFBF, “We’re kindred spirits. I feel like our souls are almost connected.”

A people’s choice award will also be given to a dog chosen by the public. The winner of the People’s Choice Pup will also receive a one-year supply of Purina Pro-Plan and be announced at the AFBF convention.

Farmers can submit their nominations here after joining the Farm Bureau here. Nominations for Farm Dog of the Year can be submitted up until July 15, 2022.
