Great creative toys for kids to build their farm knowledge

Published:

We all know that some of the best kinds of toys for kids (and even teenagers) are ones where they can get hands-on learning — through craftsmanship and creativity. That style of play improves motor skills, teaches problem solving, and allows them to envision the development of a project from start to finish. And for people who want to get some understanding of farm machinery and some of the things uses in agriculture, it’s important to have build sets that cater to these needs.

Lots of fun, moving parts are a huge plus, too!

There are several types of model sets out there that you can get, but we’ve pulled together a handful of our favorites, including tried-and-true Lego sets and really cool wooden creations. All of these are sure to keep your kids entertained — and their brains chugging along. They have farm themes to them, which make for the best interactive ag learning.

UGears Wooden Model Sets

The combine

The UGEARS combine offers a variety of mechanics. When driving the harvester, a reel starts spinning, as in the real prototype. The model has a built secret box. It opens with a lever, located to the left of the cab. The combine starts with a simple movement or spinning of the large back wheel. On the other side of the cabin there is a lever that can lock or run the harvester. It works on rubber engine.

The tractor

This model uses a rubber band motor — no electronics here. It has a transmission switch that provides three options: “park”, “drive,” and “sport.” The “Drive” mode will get it going slowly, covering about 2 inches per second. Switch the model to “sport” to see your Tractor speeding up ahead! The kit has all you need for assembly: a set of high-quality plywood boards with precisely cutout parts, detailed step-by-step instructions, and additional details. The quality and accuracy of the parts is very high due to a laser cut method we employ.

Advanced Lego Technic Builds

The tractor

Lego’s Technic line features some of the company’s most advanced models — in fact, the one shown here is geared toward kids 9 and older. It has working steering capabilities and a detachable tool that unfolds, lowers, and spins. It’s also two models in one as the kid can be rebuilt into a buggy, with instructions included.

The quad bike

A little bit easier to build compared with the tractor, the quad bike is still quite advanced in how it’s constructed. This robust, powerful machine features a yellow, black, blue and gray color scheme, super-cool decals, huge deep-tread tires, durable chassis with ultra-high fenders, heavy-duty bull bar and a powerful, high-speed pull-back motor. Get ready for the ride of your life!

This model can also be combined with the Record Breaker to create an Extreme Off Roader.

Laser Pegs

Tractor 6-in-1

The goal here is to really unlock a child’s creativity — think modern spin on Light Bright. Light Peg’s tractor kit has six different tractors, including the row crop tractor, garden tractor, canopy tractor. Whether you’re tending, cutting, or pulling you can make the job more exciting by lighting up your creations with it 2-inch-by-8-inch power base! It’s highly educational and made for children 8 and older.
