Bayer launches 3 bee-care awareness initiatives

Published:

In honor of September being National Honey Month, the Bayer Bee Care Program will launch three initiatives to promote awareness, share cutting-edge research, and showcase young leaders in honey bee health:

  • Bayer is partnering with the PGA TOUR Championship to host the Feed a Bee Garden Lounge Sept. 19 through 23, an opportunity to connect with and educate thousands of attendees at Atlanta’s historic East Lake Golf Club. The five-day event will kick off early with a local pollinator planting with Charles R. Drew Charter School’s beekeeping club on Sept. 18 and feature celebrity chef Lo Bosworth on Sept. 20, who will pass out custom cookbooks showcasing recipes containing pollinated foods.
  • There will be a release of a commemorative digital booklet presenting honey bee research from 10 projects funded by Healthy Hives 2020, a five-year, $1 million research initiative focused on improving a wide range of prevailing bee health concerns by the end of 2020.
  • A live educational webinar will be held Sept. 25 featuring three Bayer Young Beekeeper Award winners, who will discuss their work as next-generation voices in beekeeping. All three are high school seniors working to make an impact in their communities through unique beekeeping projects.

This is a good time to celebrate the importance of the American beekeeping industry and of pollinators such as honey bees, agriculture’s hardest-working insects.
