Cattle rustlers steal 29 heifers from South Dakota ranch

Published:

The Moody County, South Dakota Sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help after 29 black and red heifers were stolen last week from a local ranch. The 600-pound heifers, valued at $1,000 each, were taken sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

And a Madison man believes his trailer was used in the heist.

The man said before dropping off his trailer in Sioux Falls to be repaired, he had cleaned it out and wasn’t dirty at all. When he went to pick it up, he found fresh manure inside and it looked like cattle had recently been loaded.

The Moody County Sheriff’s office said the smallest tip may help in the investigation.
