Dick Isaacson, founder and owner of Agri-Management Services from Marion, Iowa, has been chosen to receive the 2018 Professional Farm Manager of the Year Award. The award, co-sponsored by Syngenta, Farm Journal’s AgPro magazine, and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA), recognizes farm managers who display excellence in client service and a commitment to agriculture.

Working in the agriculture industry for over 40 years, Isaacson opened Agri-Management Services as a sole proprietorship in 1990. He has grown the company to employ several staff members, including his son, who serve more than 50 clients across six states. Agri-Management Services has earned a reputation for providing outstanding customer service and possessing an extensive knowledge of farm management best practices.

Peers and colleagues know Isaacson as an individual who is fully committed to the agriculture industry. “I work with several farm managers and have found Dick to be a pleasure to work with through several challenges. He has been calm and steady through the roller coaster of agriculture over the last decade,” said Matt Jungman, an associate who has worked with Dick for 10 years.

As a farm manager, Isaacson takes a personal approach to developing his business. He focuses on building lasting relationships with clients, which leads to long-lasting partnerships and new business referrals from his existing client base. “Client retention is an ongoing focus. Our contact goes beyond the written reports sent two to four times a year. We consider our clients part of the Agri-Management Services family. We work together when making decisions about capital improvements and other major changes,” he said.

Isaacson is an active participant of ASFMRA and considers his involvement in the organization to be at the core of his professional development as a farm manager. He has served as director, vice president, and president of the Iowa Chapter, as well as, the Iowa Chapter Foundation. He also served on the professional education committee of the Iowa Chapter for over 15 years.
