Dow AgroSciences takes home top awards in ag

Published:

Dow AgroSciences had a stellar year at the AGROW Awards with a record-setting number of finalists, a highly commended achievement designation, and several category winners.

“Farmers, and ultimately consumers, are the winners as our innovative technology helps advance how food is sustainably produced around the globe,” said Scott Hutchins Global Leader, Research and Development.

The awards won by Dow AgroSciences include:

Best Manager with Strategic Vision

Tim Hassinger, former President and CEO of Dow AgroSciences LLC., was honored as Agrow’s Best Manager with Strategic Vision. His efforts over three decades at the company helped strategically position the company for the future. He led Dow AgroSciences through the merger between The Dow Chemical Company and DuPont, creating a new Agriculture Division positioned to be one of the world’s leading companies for both crop protection products and seed traits.

Best R&D Pipeline

The agricultural industry faces the challenge of feeding the growing world as the population grows and available resources become stretched. Our award-winning R&D pipeline contains both crop protection and seed trait solutions which will help farmers meet anticipated consumer global food supply demands.

Best Application Technology Innovation

The company’s novel Drift Reduction Technology, as commercialized in Enlist Duo herbicide and other products, builds in the ability of products to deliver physical properties that reduce drift, while maintaining mean droplet size and preserving efficacy. This technology addresses concerns about spray drift from agricultural product applications to ensure the amount of product reaches its target and not susceptible vegetation and crops, wildlife and waterways.

Best New Crop Protection Product or Trait

Cotton farmers are all too familiar with the challenges of resistant weeds robbing yield in the field. Enlist cotton, launched by Dow AgroSciences in 2017, has a trait that provides tolerance to Enlist Duo herbicide, a combination of 2,4-D choline and glyphosate, which provide effective modes of action to combat common resistant weeds in cotton. The Enlist cotton trait and Enlist Duo herbicide are key components of the Enlist weed control system.

Dow AgroSciences also received a Highly Commended honor during the awards for the following category:

Best Formulation Innovation

Rice growers around the world will receive access to a new product formulated to deliver superior weed control utilizing Rinskor Active Herbicide in spring 2018. Rinskor active helps farmers effectively combat challenging weeds in rice, including many species resistant to existing chemistries. Rinskor is delivered in a novel NeoEC formulation that provides all the simplicity and performance attributes of classic emulsified concentrates (ECs), but in a sustainable and more environmentally-friendly product.

Our finalists in other categories included: Every Tomato Counts for Best Marketing Campaign, Good Agricultural Practices Stewardship Program for Best Stewardship Program, Hunger Solutions Network for Best Public Outreach Program, Rinskor for Best Formulation, Recruit AG FlexPack for Best Packaging, as well as two finalists for Best Industry Collaboration—Dow AgroSciences and SePro Corporation, and Dow AgroSciences and Agriculture Victoria Services for Best Industry Collaboration.
