Entries open for NCBA national anthem contest, scholarships, and talent show

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association will be holding its annual convention in New Orleans from February 1 to 3, 2023. There are a number of ways to get involved, and potentially, get a free trip including the national anthem contest, cattle industry scholarships, and internships. In addition, the convention is holding a Convention Talent Round UP this year for those who have a unique talent to share!

National Anthem Contest

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association is looking for a singing star to open the 2023 Cattle Industry Convention & NCBA Trade Show in New Orleans. The 10th annual NCBA National Anthem Contest, sponsored by Norbrook, is accepting entries for this opportunity through Oct. 15, 2022.

The contest winner will perform the Star-Spangled Banner at the convention’s Opening General Session as well as the Friday night NCBA event. The winner will also receive round trip airfare to New Orleans, a hotel room for three nights, free convention registration, plus a pair of boots, jeans, and a shirt from Roper or Stetson.

Any member of NCBA, the American National CattleWomen, the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, or family member, are eligible to participate in the contest. (However, previous NCBA National Anthem Contest winners are not eligible.)

Once a finalist is chosen on Oct. 25, videos will be posted to the convention website. Voting will then be open to the public from Nov. 1 to Nov. 18, 2022 (one vote per person per day), and the winner will be announced Nov. 21, 2022.


Cattle Industry Scholarships

Up to five beef cattle industry members will be awarded scholarships to the convention.

In addition, three more will be offered to young beef producers, and a final three to cattle industry students. Applications are evaluated based on eligibility and answer to the application questions.

Submissions are being accepted now through September 23, 2022 with winners announced in November. Scholarship winners will receive a complimentary Education Package Registration and discounted housing accommodations for three nights, February 1 to 3, 2023. 


Convention Talent Round Up

For those that have a solo act, band, or unique sit, you can apply to showcase your talents at the 2023 convention.

Convention Internships

If singing isn’t your thing and you want a unique trade show experience, NCBA will also seeking students for internships. Up to 18 interns will be selected and will be responsible for setting up the indoor arena, assisting at committee meetings and Cattlemen’s College, posting on social media, and contributing in the NCBA booth.
