Iowa man dies after getting trapped in grain bin

Our hearts go out to the Waterloo, Iowa community after this tragic accident Monday. Rand Renner, 68, an employee of East Central Iowa Co-op, died after becoming trapped in a grain bin.

Rescue crews were called to the scene at about 11:30 a.m. Monday to try to save Renner, who had become trapped in soybeans. Firefighters and co-op employees worked for two hours, cutting holes in the bin and using a vacuum to drain it, but did not reach Renner in time.
