May snow showers trap 55 cows in collapsed barn

A late spring snow shower last week is to blame for the collapse of a barn near Loveland, Colorado, trapping 55 cows inside.

According to The Denver Post, firefighting crews from Loveland Fire Rescue Authority and Windsor Severance Fire Rescue worked for nearly three hours, to free the herd. Only three injured cows had to be euthanized.

Winter storm Valerie dumped more than 40 inches of snow in parts of Colorado last week, closed a 350-mile stretch of Interstate 80 in Wyoming, and blanketed the Black Hills last week during Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue’s visit to South Dakota:
