A 71-year-old Isanti County, Minnesota man died Wednesday morning after getting caught in the PTO of some farm equipment.

According to the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a 911 call about 10:24 a.m. Wednesday of a man caught in a PTO of farm equipment on the 30000 block of Highway 47 in NW Bradford Township. When officials arrived, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has not been identified and his death remains under investigation.

According to the Farm Injury Resource Center, Power Take-Off injuries are very common on the farm and most accidents occur when clothing and/or limbs are entangled in the rotating PTO shaft.

PTO shafts rotate at a speed of nine times per second. Even at lower speeds, operators can be injured. In fact, most accidents occur when the shaft is rotating at slower speeds.
