In Washington state, Cody Allen Easterday was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for his “ghost cattle” defrauding of Tyson Foods, Inc. and another company of more than $244 million. According to the Department of Justice, Easterday’s fraud scheme was the largest the Eastern District of Washington has seen to date. 

Legislators are urging the Department of Justice to move forward with their investigation into anticompetitive practices from meatpackers.
