Full-page Tyson ad in New York Times warns of food shortages ahead

· April 28, 2020

Just a few days after Tyson Foods suspended operations at one of its large Iowa processing facilities due to many workers testing positive for COVID-19, the company took out a full-page ad in The New York Times warning that food shortages are likely in the meat industry. Specifically, Tyson said that “there will be limited supply of our products in grocery stores until we are able to reopen our facilities that are currently closed.”

In this video posted by NBC News, the outlet interviews an anonymous worker, who alleges that PPE supplies were insufficient and that some workers were simply using rags to cover their faces. Tyson denies the specifics that the worker described, saying that many workers brought their own masks to work before the company was able to secure supplies for its staff.
