As Kansas State College of Agriculture students prepare for graduation, one student shares some words of wisdom that came from her grandpa — to be a good farmer. K-State student commencement speaker for the College of Ag, Alli Bertz of Mayview, Missouri, told her fellow classmates to go forth and be your own kind of good farmer. While on the surface it seems like common sense, Bertz goes into detail and challenges her classmates to be the person and best farmer they can be.
“A good farmer was a steward of their family, their faith and their community. Good farmers were those who got up to make pancakes at the monthly community breakfast.” Bertz continued, “Good farmers went to work for something everyday — whatever that might be.”
