Diagnosis doesn’t stop Minnesota farmer, builds 1,000 toys

As John Volz’s wife says, “you can take the man off the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the man.” That couldn’t be more true for this Minnesota Lake, Minnesota farmer. After Volz retired from the family farm and found out he had Lewy body dementia, the 79-year-old couldn’t just sit around. Instead he created his own Santa’s workshop in his garage, building more than 1,000 wooden tractors, cars, and trucks for kids across the country.
