New Mexico deputy accused of stealing hay from farmer

After setting up a hidden camera on his farm, a Belen, New Mexico farmer says a Valencia County Sheriff’s deputy has been stealing hay. According to KRQE News, the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office is investing the allegations after Matthew Chavez said he has photos of Deputy Freddy Torres stealing bales of hay.

The State Police were asked to investigate, but declined saying it’s a civil matter since Chavez and Torres had done business in the past. Chavez plans to pursue charges.
