We had our very first branding as the Miles Ranch this week and I can’t tell you how special it was for Mark and I. ⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Brandings are one of last timeless traditions of western culture and they remain relatively unchanged. Neighbors come together to help neighbors get the job done, but it’s so much more than that. Families and friends who’s cattle are being fed in our feedlot just down the road came to help us with our own little herd. It was the first time after a long winter and long nights during calving season I could feel my heart swell. Brandings way out here mean community. It might also mean the most human interaction you’ve had in months if you’ve been calving. ?⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Brandings also mean leaving well fed and a little too full. This was the first year I was tasked with a branding meal of our own! 3 pies, 5 crockpots, 1 roaster, extra broccoli salad and cowboy beans and lots of iced tea later everyone left to prepare for this blizzard we're in today. I love feeding people well and luckily my sweet mama came to help make sure I didn’t blow up the circuit. ⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Disclaimer: My peach pie is known to go over pretty well. We freeze fresh Colorado peaches and it truly makes the difference. It is so yummy. But I was in such a rush the day before I forgot to add sugar to my peach pie. ?So I'm sorry if you ate the peach pie. ??‍♀️⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Would you guys like to see a blog post of our branding??
