How do you expect to stand out in the crowd if you aren’t offering something that only YOU can do? . Let me explain, yes- you have cattle or chickens, or offer services just like everyone else. But, are you doing something differently that no one else does? Even if it’s something small can you pick out that one thing? . That difference is what sets you apart in the industry. That’s what will keep customers coming back to you. Telling me that your beef is the best flavored beef there is won’t make me choose yours over another. Everyone says theirs is the best. . If you haven’t determined what sets you apart, take some time to figure out what it is. Even the littlest things will keep customers coming back. . What’s something that sets your business apart from the rest?

When a one year old session goes absolutely right!!!! See, this little guys Papa is a farmer and we felt that a tractor store was the perfect playground to celebrate this moment in time. I love getting personal with my clients and making dreams come true. Soon, there will be babies everywhere???. Calving is not my favorite time of year. But, what about the babies? They are so cute! Of course babies are cute…. but one does not survive on cuteness alone. Calving is a lot of damn work. And it is stressful. Checking every cow, every hour or two depending on weather..it's like watching a pot waiting for it to boil. The lost sleep makes one cranky and dumb. Then you get to wonder why a seemingly perfect calf won't get up and suck, or why that damn old cow keeps kicking her poor babe off everytime it tries to eat. You kill yourself to keep the little buggers alive, then cry yourself sick if they die. Trudging through deep snow and bitter cold, or trying to maneuver through melted slop wears your body out faster than a stint at the gym. It is 12 weeks of exhaustion and some heartache. Feeding, playing nursemaid and doctor, mixing bottles and avoiding certain death from hovering moms while ear tagging their babes, is less than awesome. I know this probably sounds pretty negative. The truth is, though, that like all seasons, it passes. Suddenly, the weather starts to get nicer. The days get longer. The calves get stronger and start to grow, and you start to see that all your hard work paid off. All the blood, poop, sweat, tears, and cussing was worth it. Calving is not my favorite time of year, but it sure makes the rest of the year so much sweeter.❤ And for those people that claim calving is their favorite time of year, they are either an eternal optimist, or are delusional. ? Forgive them… they are still in the season of perpetual exhaustion ? May luck forever be in our favor.

Being the mom of a little girl is a big responsibility. There is so much to teach her about life, people, and all of the incredible things she is capable of. And while I know that so many things she will learn over the years will help her grow and become a force to be reckoned with, there are some things that I hope she never has to learn. I hope she is never told she isn't capable of something because she is a girl. Or that she isn't as smart, deserving, or talented as another person just because they are a boy. What I hope that she learns is that everyone is unique. Everyone has different talents, interests, and abilities, and each person should use their gifts to get their work done, follow their passions, and make this world a better place. This is why I am so grateful that we are able to raise our kids on the farm. The farm means work and work does not discriminate. The cows don't care if the person standing at the end of the chute is a boy or a girl, the fences don't care who is fixing them, and the tractor doesn't care who is driving. Work is work and it needs to be done well, regardless of gender. And I hope to always teach my little girl that she is brave enough to try. #womensworkwednesday . . . #holtfarms #day3 #farmkid #farmlife #farmandranch #cattlefarm #tnfarm #tennesseefarm #drovers #beefusa #iamangus #businessbreed #lifeofatoddler #lifeonthefarm #agdaily #workingranchmagazine #kidswhofarm #genderequality #womeninag #farmher #womensupportingwomen #cattlewomen #tncattle #tennesseecattle #cattletales #humansofcattletales

Sometimes in the agricultural industry, we feel very alone. ? Like a cow without a herd. Like we are the ONLY ones who do what we do, who love what we do, and who GET what we do. ? Truth is, there’s not a ton of people who do what we do. But there ARE people across the country who can relate to our struggles, hopes, dreams, passions, and love for the land and livestock. Our “herd” so to speak ? do you agree, @theherdbrand ? ? Wouldn’t it be SO COOL if we could gather all the people who want to tell the world about agriculture in ONE PLACE?? ? ? I’ve got some big ideas up my sleeve, you guys. Big, SCARY, amazing ideas. You’ll find out soon what they are ? ? Any idea what they might be? Drop your guesses below! ?? #TheFarmStory

Even though we have had snow almost every week since Christmas, there have been a few days over 50 degrees and we treat it like summer! (This was taken a couple weeks ago) ? Can’t wait for warm summer nights and I promise I won’t complain about the heat or the bugs! Lol just kidding, y’all know we will all forget about this the first time it hits 100! ? What’s the first thing you’re going to do once spring finally comes? After starting your irrigation, of course ? ———— #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #farmlife #familyfarm #farmfamily #farming #farmher #farmkids #countrylife #countrykids #wildandfreechildren #lovelifeoutside #agriculture #agfamily #regenerativeag #soilhealth #holisticfarming #ranchfamily #rancher #ranching #cattleranch #sustainablebeef #blackangus #beefadvocate #wildwest #kansas #prairie #grasslands #homeontherange #thisisparadise
