Another favourite mid-March melt pic. This machine shed holds a lot of history. It is actually the loft of the barn that was on this farm when my husband's great-grandparents settled here in 1922. The loft was lowered about 35 years ago (by removing the barn walls, stalls and beams) to make it a more useable space. Quite the task at the time but very resourceful. It also ensured part of our farm's history was preserved. Years later, when the original cedar shingles needed replacing, steel was the affordable and practical choice, but we ensured the original weather vane and lightening rods remained. This shed is practical and useful to protect and store our farm equipment, but it also represents our history. An important reminder of our past, our ancestors and the foundation they built for the farm we have today. . . . #spring #springisintheair #springreflections #reflection #reflectiongram #sunburst #sunshine #shed #machineshed #farmbuilding #farmlife #rurallife #ruralhistory #rural_love #familyhistory #gratitude #remindersofthepast #agchat #agdaily #agmorethanever #canadagram #thecanadiancollective #mymanitoba #outmybackdoor #thisismarch #tbt #throwbackthursday
