Washington officials seek info after horse’s tongue cut off

Published:

Authorities in Washington state are looking for answers after an owner in Yelm reported their horse’s tongue was cut off Tuesday.

The 28-year-old horse named Annie was euthanized Wednesday afternoon. Upon further examination by a veterinarian, it wasn’t clear if the incident was malicious, or caused by something else. A necropsy is being done to get more information.

According to Nisqually Valley News, it was the owner who discovered the horse’s tongue had been serrated off and found the severed tongue in the pasture.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said the incident, which happened sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Bridge Road, doesn’t look like the work of another animal.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is now asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information on a potential suspect is asked to call 360-584-5560 or email nastanc@co.thurston.wa.us.

Pasados Safe Haven is offering a $2,000 reward for information.
