One of the scenes I love most in the summer is a field of potatoes in full bloom. I see pride in the farmer’s eyes as the field is in bloom and we get closer to harvest. I remember the first time I posted a photo of a potato field in bloom and I had so many people say they had no idea that potato plants flowered, now you know. Today is Canadian Agriculture Day #cdnagday, a day for everyone to educate themselves on the food we put on the table. The pride and passion of a farmer is something you can’t quite describe. First calf of the spring season today! Super excited and so happy momma waited til the rain stopped, the sun came out and the temp was in the 60s! Today was the first day of session 1 of our 2020 Young Cattlemen’s Leadership Class. This year’s class consists of 20 participants from all across the state and the industry. The group heard from Executive Vice President Cody Burkham about the ACA structure and goals then headed to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture to hear from Secretary of Agriculture Wes Ward and directors of the divisions and then toured the Arkansas Department of Agriculture labs. We’re excited about this year’s group and classes scheduled.
