Best maternity workwear perfect for women in tough jobs

Published:

Mommas, is there anything more frustrating than shopping for maternity gear and clothes? Women have been having babies since the beginning of time, so why aren’t there more maternity options in terms of tough workwear? After just recently giving birth this summer, I know the hardships of finding clothes that fit during this time. If you have ever needed clothes to fit properly, it is while you are pregnant. Not only for safety reasons, but to feel good as well.

While working on the farm alongside my husband, I need more than just leggings (although those are wonderful). I need clothes that would grow with my baby while also protecting the both of us. All I wanted was comfortable maternity clothes. Granted, I wasn’t roughing it like I normally would, but I still needed durable clothing.

When you look up maternity work pants, you will mostly find options for office workers and nurses. However, there are women in the labor field that need something different. I am not kidding you when I looked up maternity work jeans and after 10 options on Amazon, men’s loose fitting jeans popped up! That is how bad of a selection is out there for women. It’s fine — we are only growing a human, why would we need to wear clothing that fits?!

However, if you know where to look, there can be some great options out there. That’s what we’re hoping to help you with.

We rounded up the best of the best maternity work gear below!

How we chose the best maternity workwear and gear

In the beginning of pregnancy, you try all the tricks to make your favorite jeans last as long as possible. We have all heard of the ponytail trick — where you loop the ponytail to give you a few extra inches in your jeans. However, there comes a time where you need actual support in your jeans during maternity. If you are going to buy maternity jeans eventually, you may as well buy them early so you can enjoy them. The same can be said for the rest of the maternity gear: You are eventually going to need it, so buy it early so you can enjoy it for as long as possible.

Things we looked for in our maternity gear included comfort, price, and fit.

Comfort

When you are pregnant, you have your favorite pieces of attire — your most comfortable clothes. It doesn’t matter what it looks like, if it is comfortable, you are wearing it. So when we were searching for the best maternity wear, we read all the reviews to make sure these items fit our comfort guidelines.

Price

While many pregnant women push off buying maternity clothes because of the price, there are just some items that you need. After reading reviews and comparing prices, these items stayed within our price range while also allowing for the best fit. Although some of the clothing can get pricey, think of it as an investment for yourself and your baby.

Fit

There are few things worse than an uncomfortable fit, especially while pregnant. Since every woman is unique it is hard to gauge how each one of these items will fit. However, the reviews were very helpful in eliminating maternity gear that did not fit well. During pregnancy, women need support and stretchy material to grow with their belly. One without the other is not acceptable. The fit of these items were well reviewed.

So while we know life doesn’t stop when you get pregnant, we rounded up the best maternity gear to keep you moving, safely.
