One hundred and twenty-nine cotton growers nailed a goal last year joining the Bayer Stoneville Legacy Club with recorded average yields of 1,794 lb/A or higher on at least 20 acres.
“The results achieved by qualifying club members show the strength of the Stoneville brand. Growers chose our science, our varieties, then added their art – the knowledge and skill that maximizes yield and profit potential,” said Jason Wistehuff, U.S. product manager for Stoneville cotton. “Stoneville varieties are known to streak out of the ground, load up with bolls and finish with high yield and high quality. This club offers proof of that performance.”
Performance Award Winners are:
- Highest Yield. A & B Farms of Casa Grande, Arizona, brought in 2,708 lb/A.
- Highest Loan Value. Morris Farms of Wellington, Texas, garnered the highest loan value: $0.0577.
- Most Qualifying Acres. Rex McCloy of Stinnett, Texas, harvested 1,026 acres with yields averaging 1,794 lb/A or higher.
Consistent performance across the Stoneville brand is definitively proven by the range of varieties with which growers qualified the Legacy Club. The goal at Bayer is to provide the tools growers need to maximize yield and profit potential. Results such as these prove the Stoneville research and development programs are giving growers the tools they need.
“These are the results of the ultimate on-farm trials,” Wistehuff says. “Legacy Club growers selected the right variety for the right field, provided expert management, then delivered yields worthy of recognition.”
Randy Smith of Ropesville, Texas, won the sweepstakes drawing for a Polaris Ranger XP 1000 EPS. Legacy Club members who attended regional banquets qualified for the sweepstakes. Randy also is a member of the FiberMax One Ton Club, which honors growers who make 2,000-lb/A yields in fields planted to FiberMax cotton varieties.
“I’m a huge Bayer fan,” Smith says. “I have been fortunate enough a couple of times in the Bayer drawings to win some cotton seed in the One Ton Club, but I’ve never won a door prize to this level.”
