Iowa police arrest juveniles for destroying 500K bees

Published:

Sioux City, Iowa police have arrested two young boys in connection with the destruction of a half million bees at a honey business in December. According to the Sioux City Journal, the 12- and 13-year-old were charged with three felonies criminal mischief in the first degree, agricultural animal facilities offenses, and burglary in the third degree, as well as an aggravated misdemeanor, possession of burglars tools.

Since Wild Hill Honey was not covered by insurance, friends took to GoFundMe to help the business rebuild and the support was overwhelming. With a $24,000 goal, more than $30,000 was raised for Justin and Tori Englehardt by the end of December.

Wild Hill posted this message on the GoFundMe page:

“Thank you to everyone for your generous contributions and your amazing show of support. Because of you, we will be able to continue our business in the spring. We are deeply moved by your compassion. Between the contributions and the equipment we were able to salvage, our needs have been met. There are so many great causes to support. Our wish is that this spirit of compassion will be used to help others now. Thank you.”
