Perdue Beer Can Chicken Beer is here for Memorial Day

Published:

Grilling season is here, and if you’re a chicken fan, Perdue has a weird product for you — Beer Can Chicken Beer. Don’t worry, it’s not actually chicken flavored, but it might make for some tasty poultry this Memorial Day.

A honey double-citrus summer ale brewed with classic grilled chicken seasonings like rosemary, thyme, and pink peppercorn, Perdue says their beer can help backyard grillers make the perfect beer can chicken.

To make the beer, Perdue partnered with Torch and Crown to create the new brew. Drinking chicken seasoning sounds a bit weird, but then again, some cocktails border on their own meal (bloody mary people, we’re looking at you). This beer is supposedly good for grilling and sipping, as long as you save enough to cook your chicken.

“Beer can chicken has long been one of the most popular methods of grilling poultry, but we noticed a lack of consensus on what type of beer is best,” said Julie Lehman, Perdue Vice President of Marketing. “As the fresh chicken experts, we worked with our friends at Torch & Crown Brewing Company to settle the debate for once and all and make a beer that is expertly crafted to help backyard cooking enthusiasts prepare the ultimate beer can chicken — always with a fresh, whole Perdue chicken — with maximum flavor each and every time.”

Google searches for beer can chicken recipes typically crescendo around Memorial Day each year, and evidence suggests the grilling method is on the rise more generally. According to Netbase, over the last 12 months, the online conversation around a beer can chicken grew by nearly 20 percent.

If you haven’t tried beer chicken, it really is a great way to enjoy your poultry. Using indirect grilling while pouring beer into a food-grade roasting stand in a grill or smoker.

The six-packs of Perdue Beer Can Chicken Beer are available for purchase online for $14.99. In the meantime, Perdue’s whole chickens also include beer can chicken packaging.
