Amazing time-lapse video of bees hatching

At the request of National Geographic, photographer Anand Varma was tasked with giving the world a different look at honeybees. And he nailed it! Varma spent six months creating this mesmerizing time-lapse video that charts the eerily beautiful growth of larvae into bees.

Varma said in a National Geographic article that building the hive in his shed  “was a real privilege that I wouldn’t have gotten had I just gone to the lab or just read the books or papers.”
