After tinkering with an old International Harvester, a California dairy farmer has converted the diesel to the nation’s first electric feed truck, powered by his herd’s manure.
Since 2004, Albert Straus has been collecting liquefied cow manure in a holding pond, where he captures methane to fuel a generator to produce enough power for the entire farm … and now the truck.
In 1994, Straus Family Creamery became the first 100-percent organic creamery in the nation.
