· October 11, 2017

See those two yellow spots? That’s a missing 2-year-old Stearns County, Minnesota boy and his faithful companion that stayed by his side in a corn field until rescuers could reach them.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the boy walked away from his home near Cold Spring last Thursday evening. After hours of searching, a State Patrol pilot located the boy and his dog by using the helicopter’s camera that picks up on heat signatures.

The pilot directed ground searchers to the boy’s location where they found him and his dog safe and sound. Following the rescue, officials learned the family dog found the boy and stayed with him until help arrived.

The boy told authorities he was “counting corn.”
