Farmer Derek re-creates Nativity — with cows, of course

Farmer Derek Klingenberg has long used his musical prowess with the trombone to connect with his cows. Now, as the Christmas season truly gets underway, he plays the instrument to draw his cows into the “manger” for a festive Nativity scene, complete with straw bedding, lights, and the Star of Bethlehem over the doorway.

As Derek plays “Away in a Manager,” the cows filter into the barn, much as you’d expect the shepherds and others having been drawn to the glow of Jesus back on that first Christmas.
