Farmers in Netherlands create video tribute to D-Day

· June 8, 2020

To commemorate the 76th anniversary of the start of the D-Day invasion, which turned the tide of World War II in Europe, the Farmers Defence Force Netherlands released a special tribute video over the weekend.

They created a tractor-display with around 240 tractors and measuring 650 feet tall and 620 feet wide — a display of significant proportions. When hovering over the display with a drone, it made it possible to read the words “75 JAAR VRIJHEID,” which would translate to “75 YEARS OF FREEDOM.” Underneath it was a symbol of freedom: the Torch of Liberty.

D-Day began June 6, 1944, and just under a year later, on May 5, 1945, the war came to an end in the Netherlands. “Because of the efforts and sacrifices that were made, we can enjoy our lives in freedom for over 75 years now,” Farmers Defence Force Netherlands said.
