Peterson Farm Bros. explain why ranchers separate calves and cows

Everyone knows the Peterson Farm Brothers from their amazing and popular parody videos (“Crazy Grain” is one of their newest additions to this collection), but the trio also dedicate a large portion of their YouTube channel to educational video. The vlogs posted there touch on topics such as winter grazing, milo harvesting, double crops, and sunflower farming. 

In this video, you can watch the Petersons separate their cow/calf pairs. These steers and heifers will join the feeder cattle in the feedlot and will grow up to 850 pounds before they are sold.
