Rancher’s letter about Green New Deal gets national coverage

· February 22, 2019

If you haven’t heard yet, the Green New Deal was published Feb. 7, and not many farmers and ranchers are too happy about the proposed actions. In the original fact sheet attached (which has since been revised) its goal was “to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast.”

Farmers took to social media to show their disappointment in the call to action, many wondering if they even consulted anyone in the agriculture community. In a viral letter to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Kansas rancher, Brandi Buzzard Frobose, politely responded with a rancher’s point of view with facts to back up her statements.

The letter was was picked up by MSNBC and they came out to her ranch for an interview and to get more of a ranchers perspective about the Green New Deal.

Brandi said, “Here’s the clip from the best segment, folks. I’m happy to have had a chance to provide a farming/ranching perspective on a national stage and the fine folks from MSNBC are welcome back at my ranch anytime.”
