A young orchard farmer — his story and his John Deere CUT machines

· October 23, 2019

Jason McClure seemingly does it all. At his family’s McClure’s Orchard in north central Indiana, the main crop is apples — 130 varieties, in fact — but they also produce peaches, pears, cherries, asparagus, rhubarb, pumpkins, grapes, and honeybee hives. Perhaps, most interestingly, is the addition of value-added apple products there, including sauces, wines, and hard cider.

On a farm that’s now 6,500 trees strong, McClure looks for technologies that make his life easier. He decided to try John Deere’s CUT 1 Series and 3 Series, and while telling the story of his family and the farm’s arc, he puts those compact tractors to work.
