Kinze offering 16-row high-speed planter for 2021 season

The 16-row configuration, originally planned for 2022, is being released well ahead of schedule

Kinze Manufacturing is expanding its new high-speed planting technology with the addition of a second 4905 True Speed planter model, a 16-row configuration, for the 2021 season.

Earlier this year, Kinze announced plans to introduce the 4905 planter in a 24-row model for 2021. “The 16-row configuration was originally planned for 2022, but testing went so well, we’re pleased that we are able to move up our timeline and make this model available to farmers next season,” said Kinze president Susanne Veatch.

“Both configurations enable farmers to double the number of acres they plant in a typical day or cover the same acres in a more timely fashion,” Veatch said. “The technology also supports operations trying to expand because farmers can plant more acres with the same size planter.”

The True Speed system, developed by Kinze, consists of a new high-speed electric meter and seed delivery tube enabling corn and soybean farmers to plant at speeds up to 12 miles per hour while maintaining precise singulation and seed spacing.

Both 4905 configurations feature Kinze’s easy-to-use Blue Vantage display and Blue Drive electric drive, as well as the Kinze 05 Series planter upgrades designed to increase the wear life of many components, simplify maintenance, improve performance and reduce the overall cost of planter ownership.

While many factors can influence planting speed, farmers should not be limited by their ability to accurately place seeds in the ground. Eric Nettleton, associate director of product management for Kinze said, “Kinze’s new system uses an electric meter and delivery tube that operate accurately at planter speeds from 3 to 12 mph, allowing farmers to ‘Plant at Your Speed’ without compromising singulation accuracy or spacing. The result is precise seed spacing at various speeds with multiple seed shapes and sizes. The system design also allows for easy maintenance, saving farmers time and money.”

Both True Speed models are now available for ordering from Kinze dealers. For additional information, farmers can contact their Kinze dealer or visit kinze.com.
